How's 2019 looking so far?
Yo, it couldn't be better. I mean, it's like this: globally, it's all gone to the shitter. Locally though, things are looking up. Keskusta (the Finnish Centre Party, ed.note) is sucking it and I've made a shit ton of music. Couldn't be better.
Yeah, suck it, Keskusta. You produce for a lot of people and projects - any honorable mentions?
We just completed the new THRILLV album! I'm fucking excited. I'm not sure if we're gonna put it out as an album but we have the tracks, so everything is possible. I'm also working on two new MAFFI projects, plus some songs with Noora, Viktorio and Hans Väkevä. I'm also five songs down into my new album. It's great.
You're sure staying busy. All the projects and artists you mentioned make very different music. How do you stay on top of so many different sounding projects?
I don't know, exactly. The music just kind of pours out of my head. We sit down and talk about life, you know, what's been happening with everyone. We reflect on those things and the vibes we're getting. I'm huge on vibes and astrology and shit. I believe in intuition, so I let the vibes do the talking. Then we just do the song. Sometimes it's darker, sometimes much less so. I still think all the songs sound like I worked on them, though.
Most of the music you put out is very dark and there appears to be some recurring concepts both in terms of lyrical themes and sound design.
I like dark shit, okay? The thing is, since that's what I've been putting out, a lot of the artists who gravitate towards working with MAFFI and myself are usually attracted by the darker vibes. That's what caught their attention and they wanted some of that action. I'm happy to write happier songs, too – it's just that not a lot of the artists come to us for that.
Are you sad?
I'm fucking happy, man. Fucking jolly.
